Who loves Mediterranean food?! It sure is a favorite of my husband and I. We love the added flavor that is added to many Mediterranean and Middle Eastern meats used in wraps and salads. Not, to mention, eating Mediterranean food allows you the opportunity to add one of the most healthy fats around–extra virgin olive oil!
(Note: I recommend doing research on finding a good quality extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). In the book Real Food / Fake Food–Why You Don’t Know What You’re Eating and What You Can Do About It, by Larry Olmsted, the author shares appalling insight into a handful of foods we eat in America that are anything but real, and EVOO is one of them. But here’s one bit of advice, if you can find EVOO that is cold pressed and bottled at the same location as its growing source, you’ve found yourself a good one. (Bariani is the brand I use.)
And this is likely a no brainer, when ordering out you can often easily replace the typical basmati rice side with another side of salad, as well as maybe share some of those pita bread slices with your dinner mate. (I do occasionally cheat on keto, with a serving of gluten every now and then. But, it isn’t often. My reading tells me gluten should be avoided by most, and our own clinical nutritionist warns gluten may weaken an already depressed immune system, especially if there’s any chance one does have any gluten sensitivity.)
In any case, if you’re looking for a new way to add some flavor to your beef patty, try using my recipe for this Mediterranean-inspired beef. And, if you enjoyed how it turned out, would you mind doing me a quick favor by either sharing a comment below or snapping a shot of your dinner and tagging “@ketoliciouseats” in your Instagram or Facebook page? I’d so appreciate that!!
